Ruthless Chelsea wallop Middlesbrough 6-1 to seal Carabao cup final

Chelsea secured a spot in the Carabao Cup final in style, ruthlessly thrashing Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues also set a new record for the biggest League Cup semi-final second-leg victory since 2001.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men came into the game trailing from the first leg but left no room for doubt with a clinical display at home.

The tone was set early on as Jonny Howson’s own goal put Chelsea ahead after just 15 minutes. This was followed by quickfire goals from Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi.

Cole Palmer added a fourth before halftime, effectively clearing the doubts over Chelsea’s intentions to humiliate their visitors.

They continued the onslaught in the second half, with Palmer scoring his second of the night.

Noni Madueke added another for Chelsea before Middlesbrough pulled one back through Morgan Rogers, providing a small consolation for the visiting fans.

Chelsea will now play the winners of the other semi-final between Liverpool and Fulham in the final scheduled for February 25th.
