Dani Alves reportedly provides €1m bail price for his release

Dani Alves is set to walk free from prison today (Monday) after racking up the needed €1million bail price for his release.

This development comes just weeks into the former Barcelona and Brazilian player’s four-and-a-half-year sentence for rape.

Alves, who was convicted of raping a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022, has been granted release pending the outcome of his appeal.

The 40-year-old is said to have also complied with court orders by surrendering his Spanish and Brazilian passports.

GistReel Sport had earlier reported that Alves’s family was seeking support to gather funds for the former player’s release, following inability to access his bank accounts.

He had until the end of Monday (today) to make the payment, and has now succeeded in doing so, with reaction from the victim’s lawyer labeling his freedom “scandalous” and “justice for the rich.”
