Yahya Bello Bio: Early Life, Career, Wife and Net Worth

Yahya Bello (born June 18, 1975) is the Executive Governor of Kogi State and the country’s youngest democratically elected governor, having taken office at the age of 40.

Bello took over for the late Audu Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who died of a heart attack shortly after being named the winner of the 2015 Gubernatorial election.

Yahya Bello Early Life

Yahya Bello Adoza was born on June 18, 1975, in Agassa, Okene Local Government Area, Kogi State, to Alhaji Bello Ipemida Ochi and Hajia Hawa Bello Oziohu. He is a Kogi State native and the sixth of six children.

In 1984, he began his elementary schooling at LGEA Elementary School, Agassa in Okene LGA. He then attended Agassa Community Secondary School in Anyava, Agassa-Okene.

He did not, however, complete his secondary school there. He transferred schools multiple times until graduating from Government Secondary School in Suleja, Niger State.

After passing his ‘A’ level exams at the Kaduna State Polytechnic in Zaria in 1995, Bello was accepted to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 1996 to pursue a degree in accounting. He earned his accounting degree in 1999.

In 2004, Yahya Bello graduated from ABU, Zaria, with a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). He holds a chartered fellow designation from the ANAN, the Association of Nigerian Accountants.

Career

Yahya Bello finished his NYSC year in 2002 while employed by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Following his appointment as a revenue officer, he was swiftly elevated to the position of accountant. He advanced to the post of Assistant Chief Accountant before quitting the commission.

Alhaji Yahya Bello eventually mastered the stock trading method and had financial success right before the market meltdown.

His stock portfolio contains investments in the banking, agribusiness, oil and gas, and transportation industries. He later developed and broadened his real estate endeavours to include several states across the nation.

He is the managing director of FairPlus International Limited and the chairman of the Kogi Youth Arise Forum.

Together with other forward-thinking young people, he founded the Kogi Youth Arise Group to launch his political career.

The group backed Buhari/Osinbajo’s candidacy in the most recent presidential election. The group was also in charge of organizing youth in favour of President Buhari across the 239 wards of the state.

He campaigned for governor in the 2015 gubernatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), receiving a resounding amount of support from young people all around the state who wanted one of their own to guide Kogi towards a brighter future.

Yahya Bello succeeded former APC candidate Abubakar Audu, who passed away on November 22 and left the election as inconclusive, as the winner of the Kogi State governorship elections on December 6, 2015.

He was sworn in as the governor of Kogi State on January 27, 2016.

Personal Life

Bello has been married three times and is a devout Muslim. He is the father of numerous kids.

Yahya Bello has used his money to assist the less fortunate and those in need. He currently contributes to three distinct foundations. In addition, he awarded a scholarship to Ms Fatima Bombom Sani, the outstanding law school graduate of 2017.
