Woman bags life sentence for beating daughter to death over bad blood with father
Tradezsha Trenay Bibbs, a 29-year-old American woman bags a life sentence for causing the death of her own 4-month-old daughter, Brielle Robinson.
The verdict was announced by Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, who revealed that Bibbs had been convicted of felony murder.
The incident took place on April 16, 2016, at the Red Carpet Inn on Gulf Freeway in Houston. Bibbs initially claimed that Brielle had fallen out of her car seat, but later confessed to repeatedly dropping and hitting the child, causing multiple fractures and severe head trauma.
During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht alleged that Bibbs had committed the crime because the baby’s father had ended their relationship.
Emergency-room doctors testified that Bibbs had shown no interest in her daughter’s medical care or the consequences of the fatal head injury she had inflicted. Bibbs had previously been convicted of capital murder, but the verdict was overturned, leading to her retrial.
“Bibbs deserved a life sentence for what she did to her child. She beat her countless times and seemed to care about as much about the death of her daughter as she did about the life of her daughter.” Forcht said.Â
Ogg however noted, “Our office stands up for all victims, but a baby is the most innocent of victims. We believed that a life sentence was appropriate for this brutal murder and a Harris County jury agreed.”Â
