Woman allegedly steals 2-month-old baby during graduation ceremony in Kwara
A 2-month-old baby, Usman Idris, was reportedly stolen by a suspected kidnapper during a school graduation ceremony in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to reports from the Nigerian Tribune, the heart-wrenching event took place at approximately 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the school premises located in the Deeper Life area, Sawmill, Ilorin.
The mother of the missing child, Sekinah, known by the name “Iya Mujidat,” disclosed the harrowing details on Sunday. She recounted that the alleged kidnapper cunningly posed as an apprentice eager to learn how to make snacks.
The suspect, described as a “tall, fair complexioned woman, dressed in a purple Ankara with a black,” approached Sekinah about two weeks prior, expressing her desire to acquire snack-making skills.
“She is a Christian and came to me about two weeks ago that she wanted to learn how to make snacks. I accepted her but I don’t know any of her family member or where she stays and don’t even have her number,”
“We went to the graduation together and she offered to help me carry the baby when I accompanied the elder brother who was graduating to collect his certificate,”
“That was the last we saw of her. We have reported the case at ‘A’ Division police station in Surulere, Ilorin but yet to hear from them,” the mother said.
