“Why we should be proud Tinubu is our President” ― Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, SAN, has said that Nigerians should be proud of having Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president while describing him as a great economist who knows all the nuances of how to grow a modern economy.

The former Minister of State for Labour and Employment disclosed this on his Twitter handle on Monday.

According to Keyamo: “A new crop of leaders is emerging in Africa that have clear ideas as to how they want their various economies and societies to be run so as to prioritise their self-sustenance and cultural imperatives over and above theories and conditionalities of the Western World and other bigger economies that do not sit well with their people.

“We should be proud that we have @officialABAT at this time as President who, from a rich antecedent, knows all the nuances of how to grow a modern economy and can easily connect with other African leaders on such initiatives”.

In other news, President Tinubu joined world leaders in Paris, France on Thursday last week to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on a priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The summit afforded the president the opportunity of projecting his advocacy for widening the fiscal space, and economic justice for Africa as the world accelerates the pace of energy transition and the urgency of addressing the pressing issues of poverty and climate change.

The two-day Summit, June 22 and 23 looks at opportunities to restore fiscal space to countries that face difficult short-term financial challenges, especially the most indebted; mobilize innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change; foster development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.

President Tinubu and the other global leaders, multilateral institutions, financial experts and economists took a more holistic look at the recovery of economies from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising cases of poverty, with a view to providing access to finance and investment that will leverage inclusive growth.

The Summit was hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France at Palais Brongniart.
