“Why must women change their names after marriage?” – Reaction trails Rita Dominic taking on husband’s surname

A feminist, citing Rita Dominic’s recent name change, has queried why a woman has to always be the one to give up her surname to take on‏ her husband’s.

The lady identified on Twitter as @thedinatwumasi, took to her page to react to the marriage and name change of the veteran Nollywood actress.

Recall that Rita Dominic had added her husband’s surname ‘Anosike’ to her other names following her marriage to Fidelis.

According to Dina Twumasi, a global brand, Rita Dominic, after her marriage would have to be called Miss Fidelis Anosike.

She asked bitterly why a woman has to always be the one to let go of her surname after she gets married.

In a now deleted tweet, she wrote;

“Just hours after her white wedding, a household name, a global brand Rita Dominic is now called Mrs. Fidelis Anosike!

Why, why must women always have to be the ones letting go after marriage?”
