Why I won’t keep my marriage off social media – Veekee James
Popular Nigerian fashion designer and influencer Veekee James has addressed criticism over how much of her marriage she shares on social media.
Speaking on the Creativitea Live with Linda podcast, Veekee James dismissed the notion that secrecy guarantees a successful marriage, countering claims that public relationships are more vulnerable to failure.
She defended her decision to flaunt her marriage and husband Femi Atere, emphasizing that online content only reflects a small portion of real life.
“At first, when we started getting backlash on social media, people kept telling me to keep my husband off the internet because he is a quiet man. Some even said that private marriages last longer. However, I’ve seen marriages that were kept off social media and didn’t even last a month. I’ve seen things people hid that didn’t last,” she said.
Veekee James, who frequently shares moments from her marriage with her followers, has been a topic of debate among netizens, with some arguing that she overshares. However, she remains firm in her stance that privacy is not the key to a lasting relationship.
It is worth noting that the fashion designer once shared the collapse of her first relationship despite her investment in the man.
