“We will lift AFCON cup for you” – Super Eagles pay tribute to four fans who died while watching match
In a heartfelt display of respect, the Super Eagles players of Nigeria observed a moment of silence for the fans who passed away while watching the AFCON semi-final match.
The tribute was dedicated to the four Nigerians who tragically lost their lives during the team’s match against South Africa on Wednesday, February 7.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded as Nigerian fans worldwide tuned in to witness the intense semi-finals of the ongoing AFCON tournament.
Among the deceased were notable individuals, including an APC chieftain, Cairo Ojougboh, an Ivory Coast-based Nigerian businessman, a dedicated serving member of the NYSC, and the Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi.
Coming together, the Super Eagles players stood in solemn silence, paying tribute to the memory of those who had passed away. Following the minute of silence, the players offered prayers for the departed souls and prayed for divine comfort for their grieving families.
The serene and solemn atmosphere of the moment underscored the compassion and empathy within the team.
