We have a long way to go – Graham Potter speaks after Chelsea’s poor performance against Nottingham Forest
Graham Potter has admitted that there is need for his team, Chelsea, to improve if they wish to finish in Premier League’s top four following a ‘below-par’ performance against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, January 1.
Chelsea got the first goal in the away match which ended in a 1-1 draw, with Nottingham Forest being the best side after halftime.
Though unbeaten in his first nine games in charge of the London-based club, Potter has now picked up just one win in seven. With Manchester United and Liverpool both picking up maximum points since the restart, it was important for the Blues to try and keep pace.
Potter who spoke to BBC Match of the Day after the match, said Chelsea still has a long way to go as they didn’t do well when they had control.
He said;
“It was overall below par for us. You have to credit Forest, they did what they did well. We didn’t do well enough when we had control. It’s always tough because you have a lot of big teams with lots of top players and coaches. We need to focus on the next match but clearly we have a long way to go.”
