“We are not shutting down” – 9mobile reassures customers

Telecommunications company 9mobile has debunked rumors suggesting that it has shut down operations in Nigeria, describing such claims as false and misleading.
The clarification follows growing concerns from subscribers over deteriorating service quality and reported difficulties in porting to other networks.
In a statement released on Friday, the company acknowledged that some customers had experienced challenges with Mobile Number Portability (MNP) but denied any deliberate restrictions on porting.
“9mobile categorically refutes the false and misleading rumors suggesting an alleged shutdown of our operations in Nigeria. These claims are entirely baseless and aimed at causing unnecessary panic among our valued subscribers,” the statement read.
Service disruptions linked to technical issues
While reaffirming its commitment to industry regulations and customer satisfaction, 9mobile attributed the recent service disruptions to temporary technical challenges. It, however, assured users that the situation had been largely resolved, with only minor delays persisting due to ongoing system optimizations.
“These issues have now been largely resolved. Some minor delays may still occur due to ongoing system optimizations, but we are actively working to ensure a smoother experience for all users,” the company stated.
Commitment to network upgrades and expansion
9mobile acknowledged service disruptions across different locations but attributed them to a broader transformation initiative aimed at modernizing its infrastructure and enhancing service quality. It reassured customers that ongoing investments in network upgrades would soon yield significant improvements.
“We sincerely appreciate the patience and loyalty of our subscribers during this transition. While challenges exist, we are making significant progress and are confident that brighter days are ahead. We remain dedicated to providing exceptional service and keeping you connected to limitless opportunities,” the telco affirmed.
The company reaffirmed its resilience as a proudly Nigerian brand and pledged to continue enhancing network performance to meet the growing demands of its users.
