Warri refinery reopening is certainly a New Year gift to Nigerians – Gov Okpebholo
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised the restoration of the Warri refinery, describing it as a major milestone in the country’s petroleum sector.
According to reports, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group CEO, Mele Kyari, announced that the Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) in Delta State has resumed production at 125,000 barrels per day.
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the NNPCL for restarting the refinery, applauding Tinubu’s reforms in the sector. He noted that these reforms are driving economic progress and urged Nigerians to support the president’s efforts.
He added, “With the Warri, Port Harcourt and Dangote refineries working simultaneously, there is hope that the petroleum sector is taking a new turn.
“I want to join other numerous Nigerians to congratulate President Tinubu and the NNPCL under Mele Kyari for successfully reviving the Warri Refinery.
“For me, this is certainly a New Year gift to Nigerians. Edo State will continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government to restore our national pride and make Nigeria a hub for crude oil refining in Africa.”
