Vinicius Junior has wrapped up his most prolific campaign since joining Real Madrid in 2018, scoring 24 goals across all competitions.
As international tournaments approach, the Brazilian forward’s performance could be decisive in the Ballon d’Or vote.
Representing Brazil at the Copa America, Vinicius has the opportunity to bolster his case for the prestigious individual award.
Should he lead Brazil to the title, his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or would significantly increase.
Meanwhile, Arsenal winger and Brazil teammate Gabriel Martinelli has strongly expressed support for Vinicius.
“In my opinion, he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or,” Martinelli told Marca. “It’s a great pride to play with Vini. I see a special boy who deserves it.
“I feel very happy as a Brazilian to see his ‘I came to shine’ moment,” Martinelli added.
Brazil will face Costa Rica, Paraguay, and Colombia in Group D of the Copa America.
The tournament is set for 21 June, through 15 July 2024.
