Vincent Kompany is targeting Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as part of his plans to strengthen Bayern Munich’s squad.
Kompany, newly appointed as Bayern Munich manager, has set his sights on the Gomez to bolster Bayern’s defensive line.
The England international recently completed a season where he made a career-high 51 appearances for Liverpool, playing across the defense and even in midfield.
Gomez’s performances have earned him a recall to the England squad for Euro 2024, marking his return to international football since 2020.
The defender is currently in Germany, preparing for England’s opening match against Serbia on June 16.
Despite the interest from Bayern, signing Gomez may prove challenging, since the player has a five-year contract with Liverpool, keeping him at Anfield until 2027.
New Liverpool manager Arne Slot values Gomez highly and is reportedly reluctant to sell the 27-year-old.
However, talkSPORT reported in May that Gomez might be open to a move, potentially giving Kompany hope in his pursuit.
If the transfer doesn’t materialize, Kompany is also considering other options, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Chelsea’s Levi Colwill.
