Video: Gov Okpebholo struggles to pronounce ₦605 Billion budget

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, stumbled while announcing the state’s 2025 budget figure, a moment that has since gone viral on social media.

According to reports, the governor presented a ₦605 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year to the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

Dubbed the “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” the proposal marks a 25% increase from the 2024 budget.

During his presentation, Governor Okpebholo briefly faltered while announcing the ₦605 billion figure but quickly regained composure to outline the budget’s key highlights.

Okpebholo disclosed that ₦223 billion (37%) of the total budget is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while ₦381 billion (63%) is dedicated to capital projects aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the state.

“This budget reflects extensive consultations and reaffirms my administration’s commitment to its five-point agenda: security, infrastructure, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education,” the governor said.

A standout feature of the budget is the ₦162 billion allocated to road infrastructure, including the construction of the long-awaited Ramat Park flyover in Benin City. This landmark project is expected to revolutionize the city’s transportation network and alleviate traffic congestion.
