His mother goes by the name of Karuna Dhawan. His older brother, Rohit, is a director.

Varun Dhawan made his acting debut in the 2012 romantic comedy film ‘Student of the Year.’ The film, directed by Karan Johar, centred around three friends fighting for an annual school tournament.

It became one of the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood films. Dhawan was nominated for a ‘Filmfare’ award for ‘Best Male Debut’ for his performance.

He was last seen in the 2014 comedy film ‘Main Tera Hero,’ in which he starred as the lead. David Dhawan, his father, directed the picture. The plot centred around the exploits of a cheeky young man.

The picture performed well commercially but received mixed reviews.

In the same year, he also starred in the film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.’ It became one of the year’s highest-grossing pictures.
