UNIZIK lecturer confronted by student shares full details of incident
The UNIZIK lecturer who was confronted by a student has provided a detailed account of the incident, explaining what led to his reaction.
In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the lecturer recounted that he was leaving a classroom for his office when he noticed the student standing in the middle of the passage, recording a video.
As he approached, he tapped her lightly and said, “Excuse me,” so he could pass.
However, according to him, the student responded with an insulting remark. This prompted him to return and verify her identity—whether she was indeed a student and to which department she belonged.
Upon further observation, he realized she was filming a TikTok video. He then asked her to delete it, but when she refused, he attempted to take the phone from her, which escalated the situation.
In his words: “I wouldn’t want to go into the full details because it would take some time, but the only clarification I’d like to make is this: I was leaving a classroom for my office when I saw the lady standing along the passage.”
“On the corridor of the Faculty of Arts, she was making a TikTok video. I needed to pass, so I simply tapped her and said, ‘Excuse me,’ then walked on.”
“When she made an insulting comment, I turned back to confirm if she was a student. I then realized she was recording a TikTok video, so I asked her to delete it.”
“I specifically told her to delete it in my presence. When she refused, I reached for the phone to confiscate it, thinking that would prompt her to reveal her department since I had no idea who she was. And that was when everything escalated.”
