Udinese vow to fish out racist fans after abuse on Milan’s goalkeeper
Udinese’s director Federico Balzaretti has condemned the racist abuse directed at AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Maignan was the subject of racist chants during their recent clash at Udineses’ home on Saturday’s Serie A game.
However, Balzaretti has pledged the club’s commitment to identify the perpetrators and subsequently, take decisive action.
“This is a club that has worked for over 30 years to be the most ethnically diverse possible… if we find the person responsible, we will take action.”
When the incident started, Maignan reported the racist insults to the match officials.
Following protocol, a statement was read out, warning of further consequences if the abuse continued. Despite the five minutes pause, the match continued, with Milan securing a 3-2 win in the stoppage time.
