UCL: Valverde to return as Real Madrid receive fitness boost ahead of derby clash

Real Madrid have received a major boost ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, with Fede Valverde expected to be available.

Valverde missed Sunday’s training session due to a thigh strain, raising concerns about his availability.

However, Relevo reports that the Uruguayan midfielder is determined to play despite the injury risk and has been feeling better in recent hours.

With Jude Bellingham suspended, Valverde’s presence is crucial for Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

The 26-year-old is likely to feature at right-back, a position he impressed in against Manchester City.

If he does not start, Lucas Vazquez is expected to fill in, though Diario AS notes that Madrid are wary of his defensive struggles this season.

Ancelotti still faces decisions in midfield, with two of Brahim Diaz, Arda Güler, Luka Modric or Eduardo Camavinga set to join Aurélien Tchouaméni.
