UCL: Napoli manager Garcia expects Osimhen to shine in clash against Braga
Napoli’s manager Rudi Garcia is optimistic that Victor Osimhen will break his goal drought in their Champions League clash against SC Braga.
Osimhen began the 2023/24 season in impressive form, scoring in Napoli’s first two games of the season.
However, he has struggled to find the back of the net in their last two league matches against Lazio and Genoa.
Garcia expressed his confidence in Osimhen’s to bounce back to scoring ways when they face the Portuguese club. He acknowledged the challenges Osimhen faced, including an injury during preseason that disrupted his progress.
“Osimhen started well with two goals in three games, and we hope he can get back on target,” Garcia said.
The manager also highlighted the importance for Osimhen to remain calm and focused, urging him to enjoy his football. He pointed out that even providing an assist, like he did against Sassuolo, would be a positive contribution.
Garcia further emphasized the importance of the Champions League, stating that every player dreams of participating in the tournament, while hinting at the potential impact Osimhen could have in the competition.
Osimhen made a huge impact on Napoli’s campaign in the UEFA Champions League last season, scoring five goals. Despite their strong performance, the Partenopei were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Serie A rivals AC Milan.
