UCL: Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale faces uncertain future as David Raya steals spotlight
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is facing an uncertain future at the club as he finds himself on the bench for two consecutive games.
Newly signed goalkeeper David Raya took his place in the starting lineup in the match against PSV on Wednesday night.
Ramsdale was notably absent from the Gunners 4-0 victory in the clash. The current shift in team’s lineup has raised questions about his future within the team, and whether he may need to consider seeking a new club in the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor has weighed in on Ramsdale’s situation, suggesting that if Raya continues to hold the starting goalkeeper position, Ramsdale should look for opportunities elsewhere, “100 per cent. He has to go and play somewhere,” he said
Agbonlahor acknowledged Ramsdale’s contributions in helping Arsenal secure a spot in Europe’s elite competition, stating that the goalkeeper played an important role in the team’s achievement.
However, he emphasized the nature of football, where performance often dictates a player’s fate.
“Ramsdale will be devastated. He got his team into the Champions League, he was a big part of it. But football is heartless and brutal,” Agbonlahor noted.
