Troost-Ekong: Super Eagles ready for Zimbabwe’s Musona attacking threat

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has assured fans that the team are fully aware of Knowledge Musona and Zimbabwe’s attacking threat ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Tuesday.

Musona, recalled by Michael Nees, proved his worth by scoring in Zimbabwe’s 2-2 draw against Benin.

However, Troost-Ekong emphasized that Nigeria are preparing for the entire Zimbabwean squad rather than focusing on individual players.

“Yes, we are aware. We have watched videos of them. There are players I have played against in my club career,” Troost-Ekong said in the pre-match press conference.

“Every team in Africa is good. It comes back to focusing on ourselves. We know how they play and will prepare tactically.”

The former Watford defender also praised Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, highlighting his tactical knowledge, motivation, and hunger to win.

“We have had great coaches, but we now have the right person who is just as ambitious as the group,” he added.

Chelle will be aiming for another victory to boost Nigeria’s qualification hopes for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
