Transfer: Real Madrid eye Serie A defender as Militao’s replacement amid injury crisis
Real Madrid are targeting defensive reinforcements in January as they cope with injuries troubling their backline.
With Eder Militao sidelined for the season and David Alaba’s return uncertain, Carlo Ancelotti is left relying on Jesus Vallejo, Antonio Rudiger and Castilla’s Raul Asencio.
Among the options, Real Madrid are reportedly considering Mario Hermoso, a former Atletico Madrid center-back now with Roma.
According to Marca, Hermoso’s recent form in Serie A has caught Real’s attention, as he brings experience, versatility, and ball-playing ability, which could help Madrid’s defense.
Hermoso joined Roma this summer on a three-year deal but has made only four starts due to limited appearances and some injuries, totaling just 417 minutes.
As he is yet to establish himself as a key player for Roma, Madrid may find it possible to negotiate a transfer, offering the Italian side a quick profit on the 29-year-old Spaniard.
