Transfer: Diego León to Manchester United nears completion
Manchester United are on the brink of securing the services of 17-year-old Paraguayan sensation Diego León from Cerro Porteno.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the agreement between Manchester United and the Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno is “almost done,” with negotiations focusing on the last details of the transfer fee and contract terms.
The transfer fee is set to be approximately $5 million, with additional bonuses that could increase the total value of the deal significantly.
Jason Wilcox, a key figure in Manchester United’s transfer operations, has been overseeing the final stages of this agreement.
León, who has impressed with his performances in the Paraguayan league, is seen as a long-term investment for the Red Devils.
The youngster who only made his professional debut this year, has quickly become one of South America’s most watched young players, with his versatility and physicality on the field drawing attention from several European clubs.
However, it’s Manchester United who seem to have won the race for his signature.
Meanwhile, he will not be able to officially join the team until July 2025, when he turns 18, aligning with FIFA’s regulations regarding the international transfer of minors.
