Transfer: Atletico Madrid target Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic for summer move

Atletico Madrid are considering a summer move for Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to reports from CaughtOffside.

The Spanish club is looking to strengthen it midfield, with Kovacic emerging as a target.

Manchester City are reportedly open to selling the Croatian following the arrival of Nico Gonzalez from Porto in January.

City have set an asking price of €30 million, but Atletico Madrid are expected to negotiate a lower fee.

Kovacic, who previously played for Real Madrid from 2015 to 2018, has been a regular this season due to Rodri’s injury but is now seen as expendable.

Atletico currently have Pablo Barrios, Rodrigo De Paul, Koke, and Conor Gallagher in midfield, while Thomas Lemar is expected to leave in the summer.
