Tottenham opt against permanent deal for Timo Werner
Timo Werner will return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season, as Tottenham Hotspur have decided not to activate the €12m purchase option in his loan deal.
This is according to a report by Florian Plettenberg.
The 29-year-old forward joined Spurs on an 18-month loan, but after failing to score in 18 league appearances this season, the club’s management sees no long-term future for him at White Hart Lane.
Werner’s future at Leipzig remains uncertain, particularly due to his strained relationship with manager Marco Rose.
Should Rose remain in charge, the German international could be forced to look elsewhere.
Despite his struggles, Werner may still attract Premier League interest, while Bundesliga clubs and MLS teams have also reportedly made inquiries.
With a €10m salary and a €15m market value, his next move will be closely watched.
