Tinubu’s wife, Military officials attend COAS Lagbaja’s burial

The funeral service for Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, is set to begin at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

According to reports, the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has arrived at the event, which is also being attended by senior military officials from both Nigeria and abroad, along with family, friends, associates, government representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Lagbaja passed away in Lagos after an illness. During a Songs of Service ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Major General Kelvin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, praised the late Chief of Army Staff as an “extraordinary military leader.”

Speaking on behalf of the 39 Regular Course, Aligbe highlighted Lagbaja’s distinguished military career, noting that he was the only officer to have commanded a Nigerian Army battalion twice. He also reflected on Lagbaja’s leadership, which was evident from their early days together in the 39 Regular Course, which commissioned 199 cadets into the armed forces on September 12, 1987.

The ceremony, attended by senior military officials, family, and friends, served as a tribute to Lagbaja’s invaluable contributions to the armed forces. His legacy as an exceptional leader has left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the broader military community.
