TikToker playfully takes DNA test, police discover her grandma is suspect in 25-year-old unsolved case
A TikToker has gone viral after jokingly taking an ancestry DNA test kit, which led police to discover that her grandmother is the suspect in a 25-year-old unsolved murder case, Baby Garnet.
The revelation, shared on the popular social media platforms X and TikTok, has sparked widespread reactions.
In the viral post, it was disclosed that the TikToker received a call from the police shortly after submitting her DNA sample.
Following investigations, it was confirmed that her grandmother was linked to the decades-old case and could face legal consequences.
She wrote: “This babe on TikTok took an ancestry DNA test kit, and the state police found answers to a 25-year-old case they’ve been trying to solve. Turns out, her grandma is the culprit, and she might go to jail. 💀.”
The post also included a link to the TikToker’s video, where she narrated her side of the story. She explained that after a friend tried the ancestry DNA test, she decided to do the same out of curiosity.
However, the results took a shocking turn when police contacted her, stating that her DNA partially matched that of an individual tied to a cold case from 25 years ago.
Further investigations required her to submit her DNA to a global database, which confirmed she was not the suspect.
The police then collected her mother’s DNA, ultimately discovering that the person linked to the murder was her grandmother.
In her video, the TikToker admitted she has never met her grandmother.
