Reports from Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, reveals that veteran Chelsea defender Thiago Silva will leave the club this summer.
Romano announced that Silva wlll leave as a free agent in the coming transfer window, after rejecting proposals for extension in January.
“Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea as free agent the end of the season. The decision has been made, to be confirmed soon.
“He rejected proposals in January to stay and help Chelsea until the end.
“Thiago has Fluminense interest since long time but keeping all options open,” the transfer expert added in a post on X.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian after Chelsea’s exit from the FA Cup on Saturday, hinted on a potential departure from Stamford Bridge, after a four-year stint.
“I do have a decision made in my mind, but it’s not the moment to share it,” Silva said. “Sooner or later, the news will come out.”
“I don’t want to say anything now after a defeat. I’m sad about the result,” Silva added during a post match interview.
The 39-year-old who joined Chelsea in 2020 from Paris Saint-Germain, was visibly emotional after the 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
He had hoped Chelsea advanced to the final, giving several missed opportunities by forward Nicolas Jackson at the Wembley encounter.
