“The effort people put in achieving a glamorous wedding has hindered their understanding of marital vows” – Catholic Priest opines
Malawi-based priest, Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu has stated that the effort people put in seeing to the fact that their wedding ceremony is glamourous and second to none has hindered the understanding of marital vows.
Amid the recent happenings; with lots of relationships and marriages crashing and developing problems, the Priest noted that couples basically pay attention to frivolities rather than reality.
He complained that lots of people now devote their time to ensure a grand wedding ceremony while neglecting the rudiments of marriage which has led to a lot of marriage failures.
In his words:
“I promise to be TRUE to you in GOOD times and in BAD.” This is one of those strong words you say during marriage. We can even write a PhD thesis analysing what it means to be true to someone in good times and in bad,” the priest wrote.
“Unfortunately, most often, the time people spend to share aso ebi (uniform party cloth) and selecting style for nails and haircut and choosing bestman will not allow them sit down and reflect if actually they truly mean those words.”
