Tambuwal’s aide, Aisha Maina dies in stampede at PDP’s rally in Sokoto
The Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state on female education, Hajia Aisha Maina has died in PDP rally stampede.
Hajia Aisha Maina attended the Presidential rally of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The rally took place in Sokoto state on Tuesday, January 31.
Unfortunately, she was caught in a stampede that occurred at the exit gate of Giginya Stadium, the venue of the rally.
A staff at the Ministry of Information said;
“A motorcyclist fell down from his bike at the exit way of the stadium and that caused a serious stampede, with people falling upon one another. She was one of the victims.”
Chairman of Forum of Special Advisers, Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, who confirmed Maina’s death, said she was rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.
“She died few minutes after her admission. Even during the rally, we were together, not knowing that would be our last meeting.”
Maina was the former chairperson of the National Woman Journalists Association of Nigeria (NAWOJ), Sokoto state chapter.
She was also the former Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on New Media. She was later moved to Female Education Board. Aisha is survived by three children and aged parents.
