Super Falcons secure 1-1 draw in Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers against Ethiopia
Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
Ethiopia took an early lead in the 6th minute, courtesy of Birkie Amare, who scored from a goalmouth scramble.
However, the Super Falcons fought back, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade equalizing in the 52nd minute with a long-range volley from outside the box.
The Falcons appeared to have secured a late victory in the 92nd minute when substitute Ifeoma Onumonu headed the ball into the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The second leg of the qualifiers is scheduled for next week’s Tuesday, in Abuja.
