Stats show Mbappe behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid record after 30 matches
Kylian Mbappé, who idolized Cristiano Ronaldo growing up, has now completed 30 appearances for Real Madrid.
Comparisons between the two footballing superstars were inevitable, and while Mbappé has made a solid start to his career in Spain, his numbers fall short of Ronaldo’s at the same stage.
Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid in 2009, scored 27 goals and provided six assists in his first 30 matches.
The Portuguese forward averaged a goal every 91.8 minutes and a goal contribution every 75.1 minutes.
He also displayed strength from set pieces, scoring six goals from free-kicks and converting three penalties during that period.
Mbappé, on the other hand, has netted 18 goals and delivered four assists in his first 30 matches.
The French forward averages a goal every 134.2 minutes and a goal contribution every 109.8 minutes.
Unlike Ronaldo, Mbappé is yet to score a free-kick but has converted four penalties.
While Ronaldo’s numbers reflect his instant impact at Real Madrid, Mbappé’s performances have been more inconsistent, partly due to adapting to a new environment.
Despite this, Mbappé has already won two trophies; the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and has shown glimpses of brilliance, scoring seven goals in his last nine matches.
