Sowore, legal team escort Lagos corper Raye to disciplinary meeting

Presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore has thrown his support behind embattled Lagos corps member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, as she sets to face disciplinary action over her viral video criticizing the Tinubu administration.
Raye, who serves in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos, sparked controversy after calling out the Tinubu’s government over rising inflation and describing Lagos as a “smelly state.”
Following her refusal to take down the video, she was summoned to meet with her Local Government Inspector (LGI), reportedly for disciplinary measures.
In a show of solidarity, Sowore, alongside his legal team, met with Raye to escort her to the LGI’s office. He shared a video on his X page, updating followers on the situation.
“The journey with youth corper, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, has commenced in Lagos. She is scheduled to appear before the LGI today, and we will escort her to their offices. We are all en route with attorneys. @mrfestusogun @yinka_oyesomi and @justiceojienoh,” he captioned the post.
The case has stirred mixed reactions, with some commending Raye’s courage while others question the appropriateness of her remarks as a serving corps member.
More updates on the outcome of the meeting are expected.
