Slot denies Liverpool complacency after Fulham defeat

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has rejected claims of complacency within his squad following a 3-2 defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

The Reds boss insists that every Premier League win requires maximum effort from his players.

The Reds entered the clash at Craven Cottage knowing a win would leave them just three victories away from sealing the Premier League title after Arsenal dropped points to Everton.

However, a first-half collapse saw Fulham net three times in 14 minutes, leaving Liverpool with too much to do despite a second-half fightback.

Speaking post-match, Slot dismissed suggestions that the players had taken their foot off the gas due to their lead at the top of the table.

“[Complacency] is the last thing. There’s no reason for us to be complacent because we’re not winning every game by three or four goals,” he said.

“It takes us so much effort and hard work combined with quality to win games.”

Slot also aimed a thinly veiled jab at Manchester City, referencing their dominance in previous seasons.

“The team that won the league the last four seasons were already 3-0 up at half-time in a lot of the games they played. That’s not the way it is for us.”

Liverpool face West Ham next, to maintain control of their title pursuit.
