Shock as Bobrisky sues EFCC, N/Assembly demands N1.2Bn

Famous socialite Bobrisky initiates a N1.2 billion lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Assembly, accusing them of infringing on his fundamental rights.

It would be recalled that Bobrisky has been embroiled in controversy ever since activist Verydarkman released an alleged audio recording where Bobrisky claimed to have given EFCC officials N15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him.

Bobrisky was freed on August 5, following his conviction on April 12 for abusing the naira, which resulted in a six-month prison sentence.

Following his release, it was later purported that he never served his term in jail.

The National Assembly had summoned Verydarkman, who had made the claim, and Bobrisky to appear before them.

On Saturday, Bobrisky posted on Instagram a court order from October 10, which barred the EFCC and National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.

In the lawsuit, he stated that the EFCC had invited him for questioning based on a hearsay WhatsApp call published by VeryDarkMan, without verifying the authenticity of the recording. He argued that this led to online mockery, threats from unidentified individuals, and an invasion of his privacy.

The crossdresser is seeking N200 million from the EFCC for emotional distress and N1 billion from the National Assembly for infringing on his right to a fair hearing.

Bobrisky captioned …

“Notwithstanding the earlier filing of this fundamental rights matter the EFCC @officialefcc still violently assaulted and harassed me and pulled me out of a plane ✈️ set for takeoff 🛫. The EFCC and other security agencies in Nigeria 🇳🇬 are violators of human rights and it is high time the world 🌎 and the international community gets to know about their trademark of violation of freedom and rights. Without any order of court the minister of interior ordered the Nigeria 🇳🇬 Immigration Service and the Nigeria 🇳🇬 Police to arrest and detain me which lead to my worsening illnesses, then again the EFCC arrested and took me from their Lagos office to Abuja notwithstanding the pendency of this suit. It is a shame that the EFCC does not respect the court neither does any security agencies they act above the law which they claim to protect and implement.”
