Sheriff Oborevwori Early Life
Sheriff Oborevwori was born on June 19, 1963, in Osubi, Delta State, to Chief Samuel and Mrs Esther Oborevwori. Following his primary education at Alegbo Primary School, he attended Oghareki Grammar School for secondary school. In 2004, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma.

In 2010, he received a master’s degree in political science from Delta State University in Abraka. Oborevwori holds a Leadership Inclusive Development Certificate Program from the London School of Economics and Political Science as well as a Leadership Executive Certificate Program from the Alliance Manchester Business School.
Career
Oborovwori was a member of the Okpe neighbourhood before being elected as its chairman. Nonetheless, he rose to prominence in 2015 when he was elected to the Delta State House of Assembly to represent Okpe State Constituency (PDP). He was elected to the House of Representatives after serving as a councillor in various government posts for 19 years.
Following the impeachment of the former speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya was elected as the next speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly on May 11, 2017. Monday in Igbuya, the Rt. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) standard-bearer for governor in the 2023 general elections after obtaining 597 votes in the Delta State governorship primary on Wednesday in Asaba.
Senator Oborevwori, Ifeanyi Okowa’s preferred candidate, defeated Olorogun David Edevbie, the preference of former governor Chief James Ibori, who earned 113 votes and finished third.

According to Mr Ndibusi Nwobu, chairman of the electoral body, the sheriff garnered 625 votes, making him the party’s genuine candidate. However, because previous governors Ibori and Uduaghan did not run in the primaries, it is evident that Okowa is the party’s leader.
While Edevbie departed before the polls closed, clearly unsatisfied with the results, Oborevwori was overjoyed as he embraced the other candidates and delegates and everyone applauded as he was declared the winner.
According to Mr Ndubusi Nwobu, head of the panel, Oborevwori received 597 votes, compared to Edevbie’s 113, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi’s 0 votes, Chief Fred Majemite’s 6, Senator James Manager’s 83, Barr Peter Mrakpor’s 9, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro’s 9, and Chief Ejaife Odebala’s 2.
Nwobu said that the results of the primary did not impact the outcome of this election. He declared the election to be free and fair.
The 824 delegates who came to the Dome Centre in Asaba around 11 a.m. for the accreditation process were cheerful and energetic. Thirteen of the fourteen cleared candidates were present. Chief Kenneth Gbagi, the former minister of state for education, dropped out of the race earlier this week and did not show up at the site on Tuesday.
Delegates from Aniocha North voted in alphabetical order at 3:24 p.m. The election was being monitored by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and security officials.
Other governor candidates, including Mr Ejaife Odebala and Mr Fred Majemite, left the polling venue without a ceremony, as did Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and Mr Braduce Angozi.
Southwest Warri elections were completed at 5:25 p.m. Beginning at 5:41 p.m., ballots were sorted and tabulated.
Scholarships Initiation
On June 24, 2018, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori allegedly gave empowerment kits and scholarships worth six million nairas to 25 kids from Okpe Local Government, both indigenous and non-indigenous.
The Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship Scheme created programs to support small-time traders, market women, and artisans, in addition to giving financial aid for education.
Donations included twenty-four buses or cars, ten tricycles, twenty kits for hair salons with generators, forty pieces of milling equipment, thirty sewing machines, and twenty deep freezers for market women operating in the frozen food industry. Hundreds of clothes items were also distributed to widows.
Personal Life
Mrs Oborevwori Tobore is Sheriff Oborevwori’s wife. She was believed to have been kidnapped in 2011 on Delta State’s Osubi Road in Okpe Local Government Area. The offenders were apprehended promptly and sentenced to 21 years in prison.
