Serie A: Coachless Torino hold Napoli to 1-1 draw at Stadio Maradona
Napoli played out a 1-1 draw against a coachless Torino side at Stadio Maradona on Friday night’s Serie A clash, despite taking the lead first.
Khvicha Kvaratskehlia and Antonio Sanabria goals for their respective teams, ensured the spoils where shared.
While Napoli was without some players like Jens Cajuste and Cyril Ngonge due to injury, Torino, had to cope without their coach on the touchline due to a ban.
Napoli’s best chance came through Kvaratskhelia, who failed to convert a one-on-one opportunity against Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.
Victor Osimhen also missed a header from close range early in the game that could have put his side in front.
Napoli succeeded in taking the lead through Kvaratskhelia’s close-range finish after a cross from Mario Rui.
However, Torino equalized just minutes after, with Sanabria’s acrobatic bicycle kick from a corner.
Despite late pressure from Napoli, including efforts from Kvaratskhelia, Torino held on for a point.
Napoli remain in seventh place in the Serie A standings, while Torino stay in 10th.
