Serie A: Atalanta to double Lookman’s salary following interest from European giants
Atalanta are keen to seal Ademola Lookman’s future at Gewiss Stadium, offering the Nigerian star a new deal with a salary increase.
The increase is aimed at keeping him in the Serie A until at least 2027.
According to Bergamo & Sports, the club are prepared to double his wages to €3.5 million per year to fend off interest from top European clubs.
Lookman, 27, reportedly agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, but Atalanta blocked the transfer.
His impressive start to the 2024/25 season has only increased his appeal, with the winger recently finishing 14th in the Ballon d’Or rankings and emerging as a leading contender for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, has two years left on his current contract.
With the proposed extension and salary increase, Atalanta hopes to retain their star winger and ward off renewed interest from Europe’s elite clubs next summer.
