Sergio Agüero files €3 million lawsuit against Barcelona for unpaid wages
Former Argentine striker Sergio Agüero has filed a lawsuit against Barcelona, claiming €3 million in unpaid wages.
This follows the early termination of his contract with the Spanish giants in 2021.
The details of the legal dispute were revealed in an official financial report sent to the club’s members ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 19.
Agüero, 36, joined Barcelona from Manchester City on a two-year deal in 2021 but was forced to retire just months later after suffering heart problems.
The early termination of his contract was agreed upon after he played only five matches for the club.
However, Agüero now argues that Barcelona has not fulfilled their financial obligations as part of the agreement, leading to his legal action filed in May 2024.
The report also revealed that, as of June 2024, no resolution had been reached between the two parties, with the case now awaiting further legal proceedings.
