Secondus alerts Tinubu on Wike’s growing threat to Nigeria’s democracy

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Uche Secondus, has claimed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, poses the greatest threat to democracy in Nigeria.

Secondus warned that Wike’s unchecked behavior could potentially undermine and destabilize the nation’s democratic system.

He stated this while reacting to last Saturday’s local government elections in Rivers State.

Speaking via a statement, Secondus warned the federal government that the man it was protecting was aiming to pull down democracy in the country and should be closely watched.

“It’s only in this country and under the watch of a party like APC that one person will be a member of two political parties and use them to cause nuisance in the society,” he said.

He advised President Bola Tinubu to see Wike for what he truly was, “an unruly bull in a China shop, ready and willing to pull down everything in the shop to quench his violent appetite.”

He reminded the federal government of Rivers State’s strategic importance as it hosts some of the nation’s critical assets.

Secondus urged President Tinubu to collaborate with Governor Siminalayi Fubara to protect these assets by curbing Wike’s excessive ambitions.

He also extended congratulations to the people of Rivers State, especially the voters, for their strong turnout on Saturday and for standing firm against threats from Wike and his supporters.

Additionally, he praised Governor Fubara for his commitment to democracy and for showing leadership during a critical time, refusing to be intimidated.

Finally, Secondus issued a caution, noting that all indicators of a failing democracy are now evident in Nigeria. He advised the federal government to be vigilant in managing anti-democratic figures like Wike.
