Secondary school students adopt ‘helpless’ little girl
A group of secondary school students from Evergreen School, Enugu, have adopted a helpless 7-year-old girl named Amazing-Grace Ikechukwu, who was found living without adequate care.
The students discovered Amazing-Grace during a recent visit to her neighborhood, where they learned that her mother is alive but unable to support her, while her father has abandoned the family.
Moved by her plight, the students have committed to raising funds to provide for her education and welfare.
Alex Onyia, who shared Amazing-Grace’s story on X (formerly Twitter), expressed admiration for the students’ initiative.
“They became interested in her during their slum visit and realized the difficult situation she was in. They have started raising funds for the child and have decided to make her their sister going forward,” he wrote. “This will ensure she has access to education and proper care. I love this!,” the post read.
