Sea King rearrested for cyberbullying Pastor Adeboye

Nigerian TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Sea King was re-arrested on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the premises of a magistrate’s court in the Ogba area of Lagos State.

This arrest was reportedly due to allegations of cyberbullying against Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), during a live session in December 2024.

It is worth noting that Sea King was initially arrested in December 2024 after posting a video criticizing President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

He was subsequently arraigned on charges including treason, cyberstalking, and conduct likely to provoke a breach of peace. The magistrate’s court granted him bail of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

On Thursday, during his appearance for the ongoing trial, Sea King was re-arrested and taken to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being transferred to Abuja.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore announced this development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, February 7, 2025.

In December 2024, Sea King was accused of inciting violence against police officers through a TikTok video, leading to his initial arrest and charges.

The re-arrest has raised concerns among human rights advocates regarding freedom of expression and the treatment of individuals in custody. Legal proceedings are ongoing, and further updates are anticipated as the case develops.
