Ruud van Nistelrooy makes Premier League history in Leicester debut

Ruud van Nistelrooy began his Premier League managerial career in historic fashion as Leicester City beat West Ham 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.

Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss, and Patson Daka secured a dream debut for the Dutchman, who became the first manager to defeat a team twice in a season before later managing them in the same campaign.

Van Nistelrooy, a Premier League legend, is no stranger to unusual records.

As a former Manchester United striker, he set a consecutive scoring streak in the league with ten goals, later surpassed by Leicester’s Jamie Vardy in 2016.

Now, the two are working together to propel the Foxes up the league table.

Van Nistelrooy’s appointment comes after a successful stint as interim manager at Manchester United following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal in October.

In his four games in charge, he secured three wins, including two over Leicester, and a draw against Chelsea.

Despite expressing a desire to remain at Old Trafford, the role went to Ruben Amorim, paving the way for Van Nistelrooy’s move to Leicester.
