Ruben Amorim to decide Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future at Manchester United
Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will hold talks with Ruud van Nistelrooy on Monday.
The purpose is to determine the former United star’s future in the coaching staff.
Van Nistelrooy has overseen three wins and a draw since stepping in as interim manager following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, yet his place under Amorim remains uncertain.
Amorim is reportedly considering reshaping his backroom team and is keen to bring in six Sporting Lisbon staff members.
This includes key assistants Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido and Carlos Fernandes.
When asked about Van Nistelrooy’s potential role, Amorim expressed respect for the club legend but emphasized that he would clarify Van Nistelrooy’s future after their meeting.
“About a legend of the club. He did a great job. I have to talk with him tomorrow. Then I will explain everything. I am very clear and I will tell you like it is. Let’s wait until tomorrow.”
In terms of tactics, Amorim hinted at introducing his preferred 3-4-3 formation, which brought him two titles with Sporting Lisbon.
However, he noted the need to adjust based on United’s current squad and fitness levels.
“I know how I am going to play in the beginning,” Amorim stated, emphasizing his intention to start with a familiar structure and then adapt to the players at his disposal.
Amorim’s first game as United manager will be an away fixture against Ipswich on November 24.
