Ruben Amorim downplays Manchester United role ahead of City clash
Ruben Amorim, set to join Manchester United as their new head coach on November 11, is maintaining focus on Sporting CP ahead of their Champions League clash.
Sporting face Manchester City next, in the continental tournament.
Despite anticipation surrounding his upcoming role at United, Amorim is keeping his thoughts rooted in his current responsibilities with Sporting.
Amorim acknowledged the intense media scrutiny he will face in England but emphasized that he is currently focused on securing a strong finish with Sporting.
“If the result is negative, expectations will drop; if we win, they’ll think the new Alex Ferguson has arrived,” he humorously remarked.
His aim, he clarified, is to leave Sporting on a high note before embarking on his “new adventure” at Old Trafford.
Amorim, 39, will become Manchester United’s tenth manager since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, and he is aware that high expectations will accompany his tenure.
