Cristiano Ronaldo was left in tears as Al Nassr lost on penalties to Al Hilal in the King’s Cup of Champions final.
Al Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrovic opened scoring early, with Al Nassr’s Ayman Yahya equalizing to push the match into extra time and eventually penalties.
Ronaldo nearly scored a spectacular bicycle kick before half-time, but his effort hit the post at best.
The match saw three red cards, including Al Nassr’s goalkeeper David Ospina and Al Hilal’s Ali Albulayhi and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Ospina’s dismissal led to a tactical change, with Sadio Mane sacrificed.
In the penalty shootout, Ruben Neves and Alex Telles both missed, but Mitrovic and Ronaldo scored their attempts.
The decisive miss came from Al Nassr’s Ali Alhassan, allowing Al Hilal to clinch the title.
Ronaldo, visibly in tears after the miss, needed assistance leaving the pitch.
Al Nassr’s last King’s Cup win was in 1990, and their recent record against Al Hilal remains poor, with four losses in their last five encounters.
