Ronaldo fires back at Hojlund over celebration antics

Cristiano Ronaldo has fired back at Rasmus Hojlund ahead of Portugal’s Nations League quarter-final second-leg against Denmark, vowing to return the celebration favour.

Hojlund scored the winner in Denmark’s 1-0 first-leg victory on Thursday and marked the moment by imitating Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siu’ celebration, a move that caught the Portuguese captain’s attention.

However, the Manchester United striker later clarified that the gesture was not meant as disrespect, but rather a tribute to his football idol.

“Cristiano is everything to me. I became a Manchester United fan because of him. I started self-training, doing push-ups, and sit-ups every day because of him.

“I wanted to be Cristiano,” Hojlund told Danish media.

Despite the admiration, Ronaldo is eager to respond on the pitch. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash at Estadio Jose Alvalade, he made his intentions clear:

“It’s no problem for me. I know it wasn’t out of disrespect. Many players copy my celebration—it’s an honour. But I hope to do it in front of him tomorrow.”
