“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited,” the club announced.

Recall that Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho both left Old Trafford due to fallouts with the Dutch manager.

Ronaldo in an interview in November, 2022 said he had “no respect” for ten Hag, criticizing United and said he “felt betrayed” due to an internal issue at the club.

Sancho, on the other hand, made a social media post in September 2023 saying he has been “a scapegoat for a long time.”

The comment came after ten Hag said he was dropped for Arsenal’s game because of poor training performance.

The England forward did not travel to Emirates Stadium for the game, which United lost 3-1.

The since deleted post forced a disciplinary action on Sancho who refused to tender an apology initially.

Sancho would later be loaned to Borussia Dortmund, and much later to Chelsea, where he is currently being considered a starter under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are obligated to keep the England international provided they finish above 14th in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been named United’s interim coach pending when a new manager is appointed.
