Residents stir reactions as they bury Ghanaian food vendor in giant mortar
Residents of a Ghanaian community have stirred reactions online as they bury a food vendor in a giant mortar as a sign of respect for her profession.
The unknown Ghanaian lady passed on and rather than use the conventional coffin to bury her, they applied creativity.
Burials in the West African country are usually performed in accordance with the profession of the deceased when he or she was alive.
These coffins fashioned after the profession of the deceased have come to be known as “Fantasy Coffins”.
A video which has caused a buzz shows residents burying a woman who had been a food vendor in life.
They created a giant mortar to accommodate the body and dug out appropriate ground space to contain the coffin.
